What is the Biweekly Pay Calculator?
Biweekly pay (every two weeks, totaling 26 paychecks each year) is the most common pay frequency in the United States and Canada. The Biweekly Pay Calculator computes your exact gross biweekly paycheck amount whether you are paid an annual salary or an hourly wage.
You can also factor in overtime hours worked during the two-week cycle as well as periodic bonuses or commissions.
Understand your consistent biweekly budget baseline and projected annual equivalents in seconds.
How to Use This Calculator
- 1Select whether you are paid Hourly or Annually.
- 2Enter your hourly rate or annual salary.
- 3Specify your hours per biweekly period (default is 80 hours for two 40-hour weeks).
- 4Optionally add overtime hours or bonuses.
- 5View your gross biweekly paycheck, annual equivalent, and monthly average.
Biweekly Pay Formulas
Because there are 52 weeks in a calendar year, a biweekly cycle produces exactly 26 pay periods (52 ÷ 2).
Worked Example: Hourly Employee at $25/Hour with 5 Hours Overtime
An hourly employee works 80 regular hours and 5 overtime hours during a 2-week pay cycle at $25.00/hour.
Given Inputs
Step-by-Step Calculation
- Regular Pay = 80 × $25.00 = $2,000.00.
- Overtime Pay = 5 × ($25.00 × 1.5) = $187.50.
- Gross Biweekly Pay = $2,000.00 + $187.50 = $2,187.50.
- Annual Equivalent = $2,187.50 × 26 = $56,875.00.
Important Notes & Assumptions
- In a 26-pay-period year, two months will have 3 paychecks instead of 2. These are colloquially known as 'three-paycheck months'.
